I am a physical therapist and currently practice in an out patient orthopedics setting in Atlanta, Georgia. I am also an adjunct professor at Emory University School of Medicine and teach within the Division of Physical Therapy.
I received my Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Ohio University in 2019 and am also a board certified orthopaedic clinical specialist (OCS), completing Emory University’s Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program in 2020. I have a particular interest in working with those with persistent pain and am certified as a Therapeutic Pain Specialist (from Evidence in Motion).
I am passionate about health in all facets of my life and use my writing to explore different ideas related to movement and health. My background includes obtaining a B.A. in psychology from Trinity University, playing/coaching NCAA Division III collegiate basketball, track & field, and cross country and working for five years in organic & sustainable agriculture.
Professional areas of interest for me include: neuroplasticity, chronic pain recovery, pain neuroscience education, gymnastics-style training, physical and neural adaptations after trauma, and movement in natural settings. In my free time, you can usually find me supporting local farmers by shopping at local farmers’ markets, practicing some form of movement: running, yoga, hiking, weightlifting, or sharing a home-cooked meal with family and friends. Fun fact: my childhood hobby was juggling and to this day I can still juggle 5 balls at one time!
I hope that some of the information in this blog sparks an interest with you and that you find it useful in your own pursuit of health through movement. Thanks for reading! -Leda
